HUNKA JUNK 5- HITS CLEVELAND, OHIO!

FINALLY! It's here, the United States premiere of HUNKA JUNK 5!

I'm so looking forward to going to the Cleveland to show and tell with my hodge-podge of film and seeing so many friends that I haven't seen for ages. Back in the day, I would mail my friends hodge-podge videotapes of mixed montages of films or during booze binges hanging with friends in Kent, we would watch some crappity-crap tape I bought at the local K-Mart. Some things change, but some things stay the same!

Dion Conflict is a Canadian film collector who maintains the Conflict Archive. At least he calls it an archive; the rest of us might regard it as more of a junk pile. Conflict's collection consists of old, campy 16mm short films - instructional movies, commercials, animation, music performances, and other celluloid cast-offs. For a number of years now he has gathered his most-prized oddites into full-length programs that he presents to large, often cellout crouds in his native Canada , and more recently, Finland. HUNKA JUNK 5, his latest compilation is the first to play Cleveland. Among the show's 20 films are YOU'RE THE SALESMAN, which teaches service station workers how to sell kitschy items to unsuspecting motorists; LIGHT UNTO ALL, a strange film about mobsters, politicians, and religious visions from the master of bizarro social-guidance films Sid Davis; psychedelic Australian ice cream commercials; and advice on how to look prettier for your boss. But the crap won't just be on screen... prizes and giveaways supplement the screening! 16mm - Approx. 120 min

Thanks to the Cleveland Cinematheque for this awesome description from their current calendar. I couldn't say it better myself!
